The ACCA examination programme provides a solid grounding in finance and management, with a strong emphasis on external financial reporting and auditing. It is suited to those people wishing to pursue a generalist career in finance.

 

The syllabus

The ACCA exams are grouped into 3 parts, each focusing on key areas of finance required by finance professionals.

 

Part 1 develops an understanding of basic accounting principles, the role of financial information and key managerial issues.

Part 2 covers the more technical skills required by finance professionals and re–enforces key accounting skills.

2.6 Audit and Internal Review

 

Part 3 focuses on the accountant's role in the strategic management of a business. It develops the ability to evaluate information and give sound commercial advice and recommendations within a professional ethical framework.

Dates and Deadlines

The ACCA examinations are held twice a year– in June and December. In order to sit the examinations, it is first necessary to register as a student with the ACCA.

The dates and deadlines are as follows:

 

July 15 – Final registration date for students who wish to sit exams in December. This is also the last date for submitting applications for exemptions.

 

October 15 – Deadline for exam entry forms for December examinations

 

December – exams held in the first and second week.

Graduates with relevant degrees or other professional qualifications can apply for exemptions from certain papers. Exemptions are awarded at the discretion of the ACCA based on details of University courses.

In addition to the ACCA qualification, students will also have the option of studying for and obtaining a degree from Oxford Brookes University while studying for ACCA.

 

Training and materials

Included in the price of the course is all materials, tuition (6–9 days per paper per six months)and practice examinations. The materials comprise of study texts, question banks, course notes and mock exams.

Training, materials and exams are on English.

The price for each paper is GBP 350. This does not include amounts payable directly to ACCA for registration or exam fees (approximately 75 GBP)
